"Almeida" Pendant PDF Tutorial

This is my latest design, the "Almeida" pendant. Named after the portuguese historic village of Almeida, this pendant reminds me of its shaped star fortress.
Almeida was one of the most important strongholds in Portugal in the modern age. It played a crucial military role, defending the portuguese border in the first years of the country independence.
The aerial view of this stronghold reveals 2500 meters of walls forming the shape of a 12 point star.
Although the pendant only has 9 points, I thought it was a fine name for this design.

List of materials needed for this project:
  • 14mm rivoli;
  • 4x3mm rondelles;
  • 4mm fire-polished beads or bicones;
  • 11/0 Miyuki seed beads (2 colours or more).
For a closer look at the pendant and more information about the beading process watch the video below.

Decoupage Photo Frames

I have been away from beading this month. My sister hired me to make some crafts to handout as birthday presents: photo frames. I gave her one on her birthday last November and she loved it!
All you need to make some easy customized decoupage photo frames are:

  • unfinished wood frames;
  • acrylic paint;
  • scrapbook papers;
  • white glue (or decoupage glue);
  • varnish (or sealer).

Here are the results.

Bead Loom Bracelets - Free Patterns

I've been working on these bracelets this week. I have a wooden loom I bought sometime ago in a trinket shop that I had never used before. I had to make some adjustments to it so I could use small beads. It works for now but I intend to buy another one.
I used 11/0 Miyuki seed beads in both bracelets. The colours of the first one came out quite nice. However, colours on the second one don't pop-up much. I meant to use some opaque white seed beads but I only had transparent white among my stuff. I believe if you use an opaque light colour it will look really good.
Feel free to adjust colours and use the patterns as you like. Be creative!
